BeAT - BEcasue All of us Teach.
We all teach and that's how we learn, we all learn and that's why we teach. Teaching is desirable if, for you, your work means more than a punitive engagement. To teach is to constantly design learning and to grow at every attempt of it.
BeAT, an initiative to celebrate the art of teaching, strives on this belief and works towards encouraging more people to teach. BeAT designs short term programmes and activities that extend the experience of teaching and make visible the power of effective learning.
Last year BeAT announced the premiere of its collaborative project series, called Learning on Wheels. It was a day long tour around the city of Ahmedabad with children from Khodiyar village on a bus! Volunteers from across the city signed up to hop on and teach what is what is best learned by observation and sheer experience of being on the road or at a historically significant location.
Facilitators took sessions on topics like Phonics/words/language from hoardings, Signs and systems on the road, Logos and symbols of vehicles and everything else you can think of, Traffic sense, Directions, Simple counting and color recognition exercises, How to behave in public places/tourists places, Cleanliness in public spaces, and art and history.
